How many weeks do you need?

From a 5k base to the start line: realistic timelines for your first Hyrox.

The honest answer depends on where you start — but for most first-timers, 12 weeks is the sweet spot, which is why the Apex plan is built around it.

If you can already run 5 km and train a couple of times a week, 12 weeks is plenty. Starting from near-zero? Give yourself 16 weeks and spend the first month building an easy base. Already fit from another sport? 8 focused weeks can be enough.

Whatever your start, the shape is the same: base → skill → race-specific → taper. Rushing the base to do more race-specific work early is the classic mistake — it leads to burnout, not a faster race.
